Description
The massive blocks of sandstone, which litter the valley floor of Conkle's hollow, are called "slump blocks." At one time, these blocks were firmly attached to the bedrock walls of the hollow, but gradual erosion and the hand of time have caused the blocks to fall from their lofty positions. Because these blocks slide down the hillside on which they lie, they are also known as "float blocks."
